Giant Squid Movie Review
In this documentary three scients explored the deep to capture video the elusive giant squid. The three main scients on the team were Edie Widder, Steve O' Shea, and Dr. Kuh. They used three different methods to attract the squid which included; light, sperm, and food bait. There scientists ventured off the coast of Japan to search for the squid. There were many interesting and surprising facts that were uncovered. One thing that I found interesting was that in the arms and near the eyes of Giant squid they found sperm. The movie was interesting for many reasons.
There were a few details about this documentary which I did not like. For example I wish they had given more of a background for the three scientists. I would have liked to know how that got started in this expedition and who recruited them. I also wish that they had more videos from deep beneath the oceans surface. I feel that they could have done more images and videos of anything else that was found down in the depths. One more improvement they could have made was to explain how the scientists inventions work. I was not totally clear on how their contraptions would attract the Giant squid.
I did like many things about this documentary. For example I enjoyed watching how emotional the scientists got and it made me feel as if I wanted to see the squid just as bad as they did. I really felt a connection to the scientists and wanted them to get the chance to see the Giant squid. I also enjoyed hearing all the old sightings of the squid some of which dated back past the 18 hundreds. The fact that they incorporated the actual videos of the first sightings of the Giant squid was great. Overall I was very pleased with how they executed the movie and I enjoyed watching it.
